According to a report by Palki Sharma Upadhyay from First Post, Gen Z is becoming a growing concern for employers. A business coach once highlighted that Gen Z thrives in collaborative environments, often outperforming expectations when working as part of a team. This collaborative spirit can be traced back to their social habits—whether streaming movies together on platforms like Netflix or gaming in teams, their sense of connection is profound and unlike that of previous generations.
So, what’s causing the disconnect in the workplace? I believe it stems from a lack of guidance and direction. Palki Sharma mentioned that Gen Z often pursues multiple careers, a trend I can personally relate to, having navigated three distinct career paths: graphic design and branding, research and writing on Sindhi culture and history, and now as a soft skills and leadership trainer. Would I have preferred to stick to one career path? Absolutely. But like many of today’s youth, I found myself pivoting based on circumstances, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the twists and turns, I’ve found happiness and success running my soft skills training business. My career now aligns with the core pillars of life—health, wealth, and fulfillment.
